Confirmation

As of April 2026 St. Paul’s has 4 additional Confirmands engaged in their Affirmation of Faith process

Our 2026 Confirmation program will include Zoom, in-person, during worship, outside of worship and PD learning and engagement flexing with the schedules of participating families.

On November 23, 2025, St. Paul’s had 4 Confirmands complete their Affirmation of Faith process

At St. Paul’s, Confirmation is a multi-year learning process in which those seeking to be confirmed in their trinitarian faith learn about the basic tenants of the faith including understanding the Bible (God’s Words speaking in the Old Testament and the New Testament), the Lord’s Prayer, the Creeds, the Ten Commandments, the Greatest Commandment, Service Life, Worship Life and Sacramental Life (living out baptism, communion, confession and forgiveness).

Multi-year Confirmation - good for everyone!

The time is right to join the Confirmation program (on the way to Affirming Faith) when the confirmand is eager to learn and grow. Like Baptism, achieving the growth for the ritual milestone of Confirmation is neither age-related nor age-restricted. Lifelong faith-based learning is to be seen on a continuum with markable moments along life’s way typically from cradle roll to final commendation at the end of life. Sunday School learning, and worship attendance for younger children creates a key but not required foundation upon which a successful confirmation program is built.

Confirmation Assignment 1: Find someone who has a faith life that you admire and find out what their favourite Bible Verse is. If they are open, ask them why this is their favourite verse. You can Google Pr. Karen’s verse if you need a hint. Pr. Karen’s Bible Verse gives shape to her whole life.

Confirmation Assignment 2: let’s talk together about what is in our Bibles!Let’s look up some passages together beginning with the one’s people told you about. You may ask one of last year’s Sr. Confirmands what Bible Verse they chose and why. Maybe they want to join us for our conversation.

Confirmation Assignment 3: Jesus makes a world of difference. Did you know Jesus helped people, and healed people. Jesus changed lives. He accomplished a lot before his 33rd birthday that we should know about! What stories do you already know about Jesus, and what do you think about them?

Confirmation Assignment 4: Lutheran Social Ethics (Christian Ethics with a Lutheran Lens. How do we live by grace in the world. What does God’s love call us to do and to be?

Confirmation Assaignment 5: What does my faith call upon me to do - and how do I do it? One thing we do to exercise our faith muscles is to participate in worship. Between May and October, each Confirmand will have an opportunity for one on one learning with Pr. Karen, and other rostered and lay leaders. When Confirmands are in church, these are moments to live into the worship life that unites us all by learning to acolyte, serve communion, prepare the altar, say Scripture Readings, offer prayers, request and lead hymns, help in Fellowship after church. Each Confirmand chooses their faith adventure and agenda for progress. There are no cameras during summer worship.
